Fashion Statement
I sent my child to school yesterday wearing clothes that would be appropiate for him to go to the country club in the afternoon (half day of school). That would be a pair of khaki shorts and a polo shirt. I also put on a clean pair of socks and sneakers.
My dad picked Bud up from school and he called me up at work (because this was oh so important) to ask why I would let Bud go to school wearing a pair of socks and his Adidas flip flops. My reply was "whadda ya mean? He had on sneakers." Apparently he put his flip flops in his back pack and switched at school. I asked him why he did that he said "Fashion Statement".
I was unaware of the Fashion Police showing up on the last day of kindergarten.
I suppose in 1st grade he will be sneaking clothes in his bag and changing in the bushes. Lord knows where he would get that from.
Enjoy life!

Time flies
Holy Cow.....
Time flies when you are so busy.
Today was the last day of school for Bud. As he boarded the school bus for the last time I felt a pang of sadness. First grade here we come....or so we think. I told Bud that I have not heard who his teacher is for 1st grade and therefore he may not go. I am so mean. I know that since there are 11 kindergarten classes they are not sending out teachers until next month. Besides how else are we going to keep those secretaries employed.
So what has happened these past 4 months?
Her it is (condensed version)
We successfully completed another hockey season.
Got older with out telling anyone.
Had a surprise party for my hubby who hit the big 4-0.
Volunteered a week of vacation for the 24th year at the Wegmans LPGA.
Kept my job and actually enjoy it.
The curse of mommyrox did hit, my boss quit. So it is official every job I have had post college my boss has quit before me.
Hired 2 people to help me at my job.
Signed Bud up for swimming lessons, because I couldn't bear for him to have my swim technique.
Remember that bathroom task I started months ago. Yup.. still not done.
I am feeling better (knock on wood) my health has made a swing for the better.
My husbands divorced parents are "seeing" each other. In fact they are on vacation for 12 days right now!
I think that is about it. I am sure that are more things, but listing them all really would take a long time.
I should be back in the swing of things soon.
enjoy life!

Whaddya mean busy
Here I go again. I am so darn busy I can't stand it.
My brother's wife had their 3rd baby. Happy and finally healthy. It was touch and go for a while.
I like my job and my boss. What a concept.
I still have a great hubs, he let's me park my car in the garage on these horrible snowy days.
We have a hockey tournament this weekend in skaneatales (sp?) this weekend. Never been and will probably be so busy not to enjoy it, but it does not matter. My friend Dan gave me a bunch of restaurants to go to.
Bud has been doing well in hockey. One more month till the season is over.
So basically I am still living and breathing and hope to continue to do so.
Oh yeah!!! Bud read to me his very first book on his own. He read all of the words and I am very pleased. He tired and a bit deflated at times, but I am proud none the less. I tell him all the time how his reading is getting better. It is not a false truth either.
So there you have it.
Enjoy life!

School Pictures
I had to laugh. I was talking to a friend and when I said that bud played hockey and has been she thought I was one of those parents. I said no way. He makes choices on what he wants to do. An example is when HE decided to do hockey camp over Disney. I am not rich, so those kinds of choices need to be made. Anyways that leads me to the new discussion we had. He asked if we were going to go to Disney I said no we only have that option every other year. His eyes got sad and he said with tears welling in his eyes "Does that mean no hockey camp?". Well that means a change of plans. We now have to calculate camp in to the budget again. On top of that there now needs to be a "friends birthday" line on the budget. He gets invited to birthdays like you wouldn't believe. He has had 2 already this year. He has another this weekend. That's $15 per kid. Add in the kids in his class and hockey team, add the to the kids from last years team and the after school program and that's a lot. Now we can't go to all of them, but if you are invited you still send a gift. That is what I was brought up to do. So......
I am missing the point here.
As I was showing her Buds hockey picture the flip side of the holder was his school picture. She laughed when she said he really looks like that all the time? I proudly said yes. He is an individual. So for those of you who have not seen it here it is. Laugh if you must, but there is no one else like him.

FYI - I did buy the copyrights to this image.

Some thing for the masses
There has been so much going on. I have this new job that is really great. It is good for me and a huge challenge. Since I work in the finance field I came into a job that needed someone to make decisions based on experience. Basically do what you need to do and I don't care how you do it.
This is where I need to give props to a former asshat of a boss. He was a jerk to me, but he taught me the right and wrong way to do things. I have taken his method and applied it to my job. Some of it works, some of it still needs to be worked out to fit the current role.
I had to let go one of the clerks that was there and hire a new one. I hired this really cute Asian lady who is in her late 50's. She took an early retirement package from a huge copy company and wants to work. What a concept. She learned everything and does it well.
My sister-in-law had her baby, named him after my brother. My other sister-in-law announced at my sons birthday that she was having a baby. Great more idiots reproducing. She is a freak. There are stay at home moms that are really cool like Ubie and Because I said so Dawn, however my sister in law tells her kids that yogurt is ice cream, they can't have candy at home, but if you want it at other peoples house it is a free for all, and no matter what you buy her kids for Christmas or birthday even thought you buy exactly what she wants you to buy she still says it does not fit and wants a receipt. I have even seen her put stuff we gave her kids on ebay. Gotta love her. NOT! She is the kind I do not like.
So I have been crazy busy. Excuses excuses, but I know I could not come back unless I had my post ready from my NYC trip.
Next on a site from Ubie I had to copy this....... it was pretty neat.
Go to……1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first article title on the page is the name of your band.
2. http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four words of the very last quote is the title of your album.
3. http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days/
The third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the result as a comment in this post.
Since I am user duhhh I was not able to create my album cover the right way,
My band was called Game Night (throw back to a cheesy 80's band)
My album was called "This isn't even wrong" (huh??)
and the album pict was a picture of a couch with a bunch of dish towels on it. As I n=mentioned before I am a duhh and could not get it to work.
In all it is kinda cool.

Part Two Binghamton to Syracuse
OK this was a while back and now I need to rejoin where I left off on this lovely story.
So.... We drop off the scuba guy and Tracey drives from Binghamton to Syracuse. We leave the driveway and head up THAT hill. As we start to go up it seems a lot steeper than it really was. We ease our way up about 15 feet and all of a sudden the wheels are spinning really fast and we are sliding sideways and backwards down the hill. Yes it is possible if you do not believe me tough nuggies! So Tracey puts the brakes on and we try again only this time we are sliding towards the guard rail and if I was ambitious enough I could have rolled down the window and touched it. So she is really pressing on the gas and trying to get to the spots on the hill that are not covered in ice. She finally gets us to the top and we are all a mess. Panicked and greatful that there were no cars coming up or down the hill. My heart did not regain a regular beat for about 20 minutes. We head out of Binghamton via Interstate 81 North. We are trucking at a decent pace and we come upon an accident on an overpass. No big deal, right?? we slow down and we drive in quiet the rest of the way to Syracuse. Not because I have nothing to say, but the speed limit is 65 and we are going 40. Yup, you read correctly we are going 40. The slush was horrible, the roads are barely visible and we just keep moving. We were in a line of other cars that was about 15 cars and tractor trailers long. All of a sudden an SUV is coming up behind us about to pass in the passing lane. Then it disappeared. I swear that it was there and I broke the silence and said to Tracey..."did you see that car behind you?" She said no she was concentrating on the road in front of her. I said there was an SUV behind us just about to pass and it went off the road and down the embankment. She said "no talking driving". Yes, the roads were that bad. I was going to call it in to the 911 dispatchers, but I could not even see a mile marker on the side of the road. So I had this overwhelming sense of uselessness. I wanted to help and couldn't. We keep going and arrive in Syracuse at 11:00pm. This would be the same time the flight was scheduled to arrive in Syracuse had Tracey and Scuba Bob decided to take it. Now it is my turn to drive. I drive from Syracuse to my mom's home. The roads are as clear as can be. The drive took less than planned and I was pulling in to her driveway at 1:00. Being that our flight wad supposed to land in Buffalo at 1:00, and we would have needed to drive an extra hour after that, we did well. I dropped my mom off at home and proceeded to back track to my house. I got home at 2:00 am.
For the first time in 14 years I have never had to drive and, I would have done that again in a heartbeat, however I now know that I need to plan smarter at the ticket counter.

You are kidding me! JFK to Binghamton
As my mother and I are winding down from our annual pilgrimage to NYC. We go to JFK at 1:00 for a 3:10 flight. We look at the arriving/departure flight listing and ours is not on there. We go to the kiosk to print our boarding pass, and we get an oops message and that we have to go to a ticket counter. OK. We stand in line. Get to the counter and ticket man says "your flight has been cancelled". Yikes! What is the next available flight you can get me on. He says you have to go to the purchase counter there is a flight at 5 and at 8 this evening. "Oh crap that is a long line". Yes ma'am. We ask There is nothing you can do? He says no. We go to the other line. It is 50 people long. We get called up to the counter finally we get the same guy. He proceeds to tell us that ALL flights he told us about are all booked and there is no standby available. We said you told us that you could not give us another ticket before. He says sorry at the time I could not? You ass, a re you f$&^ing kidding me? Multiple flights to Buffalo, Boston, Chicago,Tennessee, Orlando, and Long Beach are cancelled. All for various weather related issues like Tornadoes, Snow and Ice and winds. There is no destination that is safe. We managed to get on a flight to Buffalo at 10:55 at night. Since all flights to our original destination are booked through Tuesday morning, and only the "possibility" of leaving JFK is on Tuesday night we shuffle off to Buffalo. Going to Buffalo we would then rent a car to drive the balance of the way home. No big deal. Then as we are commiserating with other passengers in a holding area a woman says hey you want to rent a car and drive? I think about it. She says I have to go to Syracuse. I'll go see what is available. She takes off and goes to another terminal where they rent cars. As this is happening my mom notes that she has been drinking ans is questioning her ability. She comes back maybe an hour later and says I got a car you wanna go? We exchange names her name is Tracey. I see that she is not intoxicated just high strung. We say yes. We cancel our flight and get a full refund. I cancel the rental in Buffalo and head to Budget rental at JFK. While in line we are talking to this guy from Binghamton who is going to be renting because his flight is cancelled too. He is pulling out his GPS and putting the battery in it and before I know it Tracey has him (Bob) driving us to Binghamton. Tracey drives from Binghamton to Syracuse and I close out the journey Syracuse to home. Can you believe it???? It is 6:00 and we are off.
We are all paying $50 to drive and be guaranteed at home. Off we go. Bob travels for a living (scuba training instructor) one of nine in the world with his classification. He talked the entire way. He is an amazing person. He was on a return flight from Moscow, Russia, and has flight issues all the time. He is constantly driving that route. So I felt good about the ride. That and he drove us to Binghamton in great time. He actually lives on the outskirts of Binghamton and lives at the bottom of a very very steep hill. As we were driving down the hill is was a sheet of ice. At one point I believe that he lost control of the car, but he did not let on. I thought we were going to crash down the hill since we were in a spin and kept going from side to side on the hill all the way down. Thank god there was no traffic behind us, in front of us or coming toward us. He regained control and we continued down the hill. I will post about Binghamton to Syracuse tomorrow.

Pilgrim Day and Bikini's
Yesterday was Pilgrim Day at school and there were a bunch of moms there. One of the mom's there had on the same shirt as I did and my young Bud was quick to point that out. Mommy you and Mrs. P have the same shirt on. Mrs. P and I laughed and agreed. Then little girl A said You have the same pants on too. Mrs. P & I both agree again. Then my Bud says Mommy you and Mrs. P have the same size Bikini's.
GULP!!!!
Mrs. P says what? James points to our chests and again says "you have the same size Bikinis."
Again...Gulp.
All of the adults chuckle and Mrs. P and & snicker.
With that Happy Thanksgiving. . Be thankful for the little things.

Ready set go!
I don't want you to die mommy.
Once again a sleepless night thanks to Mr. Magorium.
Once again if you have children under 10 not a movie for them.
Thanksgiving is almost ready.
Windows cleaned, today I take the dishes out and make sure that there are enough. That and go to pilgrim pride day at school for Bud's classroom. YEAH!
Oh yeah I have been so busy I forgot that I am going to NYC next weekend. This is my yearly trip with my mom and my great aunt. Woo Hoo!
Bud's coach asked him to be the goalie for the first game and of course I am going to miss it. I know he will do well!!!
So much to do so little time. I feel in control though!
enjoy life!!!

The countdown and Mr. Magorium
There is just so much to freakin' do and I have a pretty good head start, but by no means does that mean I will not freak out. I have the turkeys defrosting. Yes that is right I have 2 turkeys this year. The veggies are all bought (except for the celery and onions). The big table is up and the table cloth is out and fits the big table (thank goodness)! I have scoured my bathroom and cleaned all of the sconces and pictures in my house.
There are no major decisions to make except for what store am I going to go to first for Black Friday. Can you believe that? I am not impressed with any ads because there is nothing in them that I need. What I need to buy is not on sale!
I gotta tell you I took Bud to see Mr. Magoriums wonder emporium. I do not have discretionary dollars to spend freely, but I promised Bud we would go. It was awful!!! The premise is that Mr. Magorium is going to die! It is announced in the beginning that he is going to die for no reason. He was perfectly healthy at 243 years old (looking like any grandpa) and since his shoes are wearing out he is going to "just" die. Leaving the toy store to a friend to run. WTF people. Children are seeing this movie and you bring up death? It is rated G I believe. Again, I took Bud and he had nightmares that "mommy is going to just die". I said Mommy is not going to die today. I can not predict the future, but I am not going to lie either. He is terribly upset. I have come to realize that my son is sort of a sensitive child. He will still act impulsively, but he feels bad if he hurts you or if you are hurt. So I am a bit mad. This was previewed as wonderful toy store movie for children. It is about death. It is awful for children. Shame on you Disney. Now that I have given my view point.

Holy Crap Batman I feel like crap
As I mentioned before, we went on this wonderful trip to Florida and now that it has been almost three weeks since our return I am FINALLY feeling better. I have been so sick that just walking up and down stairs took my breath away. I had to go on job interviews and force myself well to just get through a couple of hours. I went to the Dr. and he put me on massive meds and it wiped me out to just combat the infection. Now I am feeling better. Just in time for the Thanksgiving feast! I have bought almost everything and I am ready to go. The only thing left are the fresh veggies. Once again I have more desserts than people. So be it.
On the job front, I went on this one interview that was 6 hours long almost two weeks ago. I was very excited about, not so much the commute, but the job itself. The HR guy calls me once every five days to make sure I am not loosing interest. They are just so busy that they have not had a chance to get everyone together to meet about what was said. He has told me that the feedback he has received has been really good. I keep applying to other jobs, but I have had no response. Did I mention that my recruiter left the company. She got an accounting job. Go F&*king figure. She was supposed to be working for me. Not that I am surprised. I am still pissed. There are going to be better things I am sure of it. I am on to the power of positive thinking.

Senior Citizen's day

Today it the celebration of seniors in the local school, and I was lucky enough to go and watch my son perform a chorus concert at the school.
Yup, he is the one in the middle with the tie on. He said he HAD to wear a shirt and tie for a concert. I am so proud of his judgement! He is wearing sneakers, because you know he can't be seen in church shoes on the bus. I almost fell over on that one, but nonetheless that's my Bud. My dad even came with my niece and she was a good girl. She is 3 and it took a lot for her to be there and behave.
Well that's all for today.

Oh Happy day
In reviewing the DOL page I have finally been processed for my unpaid waiting week which I was due on 10/14. Glad to see that I am only three weeks off.
On a happier note.....
I had a phone interview and it went well. They want to see me in person. Could be scary. I do clean up nicely if I might say so myself. Since I have already wowed them with my wit, I must wow them with my wardrobe. And shake this horrible cough that sounds like croup.
Anyways, still hoping. Must find Job.
I am tired of web searching, It has given me an opportunity to see how my "friends" in blog world are doing. Many are still clicking away. Not like I expected them to stop, I just was busy.
Once again it has been decided I will hold the feast of food on turkey day. This is a good thing I believe. I will cook for 12 people. 5 are children under 6. Still, I will do it no matter how much I claim to hate it. I think I love it. I just need a bigger house for this kind of thing. Just found out that one of the in laws has been separated from his wife for two months and that his wife filed for divorce. YIKES! We must have been living in a box or something, because we did not know. Better yet we mind our own business.

PC on Halloween

The school district that my child goes to is very PC this year. They had an Autumn parade. This is where the kids are sent home with a paper bag and they have to create their own costume. The operative word is THEY. My son wanted to be Derek Jeter. So he colored the stripes of a Yankee uniform on his bag himself. If was great. There were other kids whose parents did all of the work. I felt sorry for those kids. they were supposed to do it themselves. Bud was proud of his costume.
Now the costume that he wore to trick-o-treat was one he really wanted.

Reality
Ahhh..... the sounds of the ocean, waves laping on the shore, sea guls chirping and the warm breeze brushing over me as I sit on the sandy covered beaches in the Gulf of Mexico. 10 days of pure relaxiation. (well, it rained for two).
It was just that lovely.
On the days I was not at the beach I was sitting poolside with a fresh squeezed glass of Florida orange juice. mmmmm.
I get off the plane and Kapow! It is 35 degrees and COLD! Yeah, I know I live in NY I should know better. I am still unemployed and still frustrated as all get out about the Dept of Labor, but I will get through it. I will be patient!
Short recap is that we went to the Lowery park zoo and it was amazing! As soon as I reboot my camera software I will upload a picture of Bud feeding the giraffe Randall. Daddy fed Coby as he was just too big and intimidating for Bud. He also fed the stingrays and the (shuddering) Morey eels. A very hands on Zoo. I will add the the eel bit was at the Florida Aquarium.
We do not have a costume picked out yet, but we are working on it. We have 2 days. Actually 1 if you count that he has practice tonight.
Yikes!

Some 'splainin to do
Operator: Were you dismissed for lack of work?
Mommyrox: Umm No
O: Were you dismissed for breaking company policy?
M:Umm No
O: If not for lack of work, were you given a written warning? Verbal?
M: Umm No and No
O: You state that you were not let go for lack of work, so what policy was violated?
M: Umm none.
O: I am sorry you do not qualify for benefits until we can determine that you were terminated for lack of work.
M: Excuse me , but you did not hear me. The recruiter did not get commission on her placement because SHE switched jobs. Not me. I was let go so she could find a placement where she could get her commission.
O: Yes, Ma'am I understand, but unless you were let go for lack of work we have to suspend all benefits to you.
M: Why?
O: You violated a company policy and were dismissed. I will need proof of written warnings sent to the office before we can determine if you qualify.
M: No I did not violate policy, and I was never written up, so no written warnings will be sent.
O: Then why were you discharged? Please explain.
This is my tax dollars at work? How do I get that job?

Ahhh here we go!
Again my blatant disgust for Christmas before Halloween comes this time of year. It is good in one aspect. My child has no idea what he wants for Christmas AND the things he does want are stupid commercials he sees on TV and says " Mommy I want that" my universal answer is tell Santa. I can count on Bud to never remember. Well this past week he asked for tickets to see the Buffalo Sabres. I looked at him and said "ask Santa" Then the smarty pants he is said "Santa can't make tickets he makes toys. How is he going to get tickets?" Darn you smart child. I think quick on my feet and tell him that Santa will make toys for the man who has the tickets and trade. A simple "OK" came out and that was that. Each year they get harder and harder. Since we have already secured the tickets for Christmas we are all set there. It is the rest that is a challenge. I have no idea what to get him! Suggestions are helpful.

Outta my system
OK, I am done being pissed off and I have a wonderful bunch of friends trying to help me land a job. The tips were amazing.
I have had a lot of time at home and realized I am not meant to cook. Bake, yes. Cook, nope. While I enjoy eating.....(I am down 21 pounds now). I can not cook.
Part of the pre-requisite to cooking is tasting as you go. That is one thing I can not do. So if a recipe calls for " season to taste" I can not. Season to taste is either too much or too little. Never just right as I am not a guesser. My husband will tell you Nah, the wife can not cook. You don't even want her to try.
Anyways, I thought if I had the time I might be able to do it. Had the time, still could not do it.
Officially cooking is outta my system. I think it might be best for everyone involved!

Blindsided by Assholes
Here is the deal.
I was recruited from my job to another. After working for two months I was let go.
When I asked why I was being asked to leave I was told it was not a performance issue. Excuse me??? WTF people. Why? It is two months before the holiday season and you are letting me go? Well, I found out the truth. My recruiters co-worker was very good friends with the boss. The co-worker left and went to another recruiting company and was not going to receive the commission for my placement. My boss, in allegiance to her friend said ok we will let mommyrox go and several others that you have placed and you can re post the job at new company.
WTF people???? It is two months before the holiday season and you are letting me and several others go??? For non performance related issues??? You Assholes!
So for the past two weeks I have been on every job website and posted emailed and mailed my resume everywhere. I have been on two interviews and let me tell you it is a bitch! I am bitter and cranky. I am spending my days going nuts! Afraid that there will not be a job before Christmas.
I finally told Bud and he cried a bit and said "then I will not have nice things"
When he was having issues getting up in the morning I would say If I don't get to work I will not have money to buy you nice things.
He remembered. So I had to tell him I have some money for nice things, but please do not ask for things you do not really need. This is a great lesson for us on what we need vs. what we do not need. Right now he says he needs a superman costume. I am pushing for a vampire. I can make that one. Don't laugh! I can sew if I HAVE to.
I will keep you posted.
enjoy life.
